The pupils of Scoil Mhuire had a wonderful treat last week with a visit from scientist Joseph Campbell who presented an interactive multi-media show entitled The Secret Life of Ireland’s Bees. During the presentation, the children were enthralled as they learned all about Ireland’s bees and wasps. They observed different habitats which suit bees and there were several video clips. The children particularly enjoyed the interactive part where some volunteers helped by demonstrating the different aspects of bees using puppets and a microscope linked to a projector screen. The whole session ended with a ‘waggle’ dance and there is no doubt that the girls of Scoil Mhuire will never see bees in quite the same way again!!!
