On Thursday 20th June almost 50 members of the school orchestra (including our wonderful caretaker Tadgh) from Scoil Mhuire Ballincollig gave an outdoor performance outside the Castlewest Shopping Centre in Ballincollig. They played a variety of tunes using several different instruments including accordions, violins, tin whistles, ukuleles, combi bells, glockenspiel, beat box, tom toms, snare drum, jembe, chimes, chime bars and claves! In keeping with our multicultural population, we had instruments sourced from afar, such as the Indian veena and a thumb piano from Argentina!
“We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams!” (Arthur O’Shaughnessy).
What a lovely way to celebrate the end of another wonderful school year in Scoil Mhuire
